A practical way to plan the week
Grocery budgeting with your weekly grocery list
Use a saved weekly meal plan to organize groceries, enter the estimates that make sense for your household, and review an estimated total for the week. Add an optional food budget when you want to compare your list with a number you are planning around.
Start with a saved week
How to use a grocery list for weekly budgeting
- 01Create or select the saved week you want to plan.
- 02Add grocery items, or edit the items already on the list.
- 03Enter an optional estimate for each item and save the week.
Review the list
See your estimated weekly grocery total
Your estimated weekly grocery total is the sum of the item estimates you enter. An item with a blank estimate contributes no entered amount, so you can save a useful list even when you are still deciding what something may cost.
These are planning estimates for your saved week, not automatically sourced prices or a record of what you spent at a store.
Choose a comparison point
Compare your grocery list with a weekly budget
Add an optional weekly food budget to see how your entered grocery estimates compare. When the list is under budget, the summary shows the amount remaining. When it matches the budget, it shows that you are at budget. When it is over, it shows the estimated amount over budget.
The summary is a planning aid. It does not send live alerts, predict store prices, or promise savings.
Important to know
Grocery prices are customer-entered estimates
You enter or edit the estimate for each grocery item and the optional weekly food budget. Cowboy way of living does not automatically supply store prices, live prices, or current market prices. The weekly total and budget comparison only reflect the values you choose to enter.
